My family and I walked out of the plaza, and into the car. My siblings found it very late, seeing as though they were more of early birds, unlike me. I might as well have been called nocturnal, because I loved staying up at night. My stepfather pulled into the driveway of our house. I jumped out of the car, unlocked the house, and turned off the ADT Security System so that my family could enter without a loud alarm going off.

Mom took my brothers to their room, and laid them on their bunk beds. She told me to have a good night as I passed her to go into my own room. I jumped on my laptop and logged into Facebook. I had three notifications. All of them were for games. I deleted the notifications, and scrolled through my news feed. All I saw were New Year's resolutions and family pictures. A little message notification popped up. It was one of my friends that I saw at the ball drop.

Grace: Hey, Trent!
Me: Hey, Grace! How's your new year starting out for ya?
Grace: It's going swell, I guess. I got to stand next to my crush when the ball dropped.
Me: Trying to sneak in that little kiss? :3
Grace: YES! And he didn't kiss me! He just looked around at everyone kissing as the clock hit midnight!
Me: Ah, I bet that was awkward.
Grace: Yeah! Ugh, I was embarrassed. I think he knew that I wanted to kiss him . . .
Me: Well, maybe sometime this year it'll happen! What's your resolution?
Grace: I really want to stop cutting. I'm just not sure if I can do it.
Me: You'll do great! I believe in you! -thumbs up-
Grace: Thanks for having faith in me . . .
Me: I always will :)
Grace: Hehe, thanks! What's your resolution?
Me: Better grades probably . . .
Grace: Ahh, but you're smart already!
Me: Not smart enough!
Grace: Enough for what? We're only in eighth grade!
Me: It's never too early to aim high.
Grace: Try not to miss low!
Me: I'll try not to!
Grace: Hahaha! I need sleep! Good night! Have a wonderful new year!
Me: Thanks, you too!

I closed down Facebook, shut my laptop, and turned the television on Nick@Nite. I liked that channel. It always had funny shows that I enjoyed. I fell asleep as George Lopez screamed at his daughter, Carmen, for dressing inappropriately.

I woke up earlier than expected. It was eight o'clock in the morning, and I was wide awake. I laid in my bed for a while longer, listening to the birds chirping into the new year. I finally got up one last time. I decided to call my dad and stepmother.

Dad: Hello?
Me: Hey, Dad!
Dad: Hey, Trent!
Me: What's up?
Dad: Nothing much. Just hangin' around the house, enjoying the day off. Oh, Tammy wants to talk to you. Let me turn the speaker on.
Tammy: Hey, Trent!
Me: Hey, Tammy!
Tammy: How's it going?
Me: It's going pretty good! I'm just chillin' like a villain at the house.
Tammy: We miss you!
Me: I miss you guys, too! How's it going around the house?
Dad: Nothing much. Not much has changed when you left.
Me: Oh, so when do you guys have to go back to work?
Dad: I have to go in two days.
Tammy: I have to go in three days.
Me: Oh, well that bites!
Dad: Yeah, but you have to do you have to do to earn a living.
Me: True, very true.
Dad: Well, we have to go do some errands.
Me: Alright, well I guess that I'll talk to you in a week or so.
Dad: Alright, talk to you then! Love you!
Tammy: Love you!
Me: I love you guys too.
Tammy: Bye!
Dad: Bye!
Me: Adios!

I closed the call and watched television until lunch time. I ate lunch with the family. They told me that we were all going to go to the beach. We weren't going to swim. We were just going to walk on the sand. After lunch, I changed out of my pajamas and into jeans and a t-shirt. My family and I loaded up in the truck and took our walk on the beach. The beach walk was beautiful, but it seemed everlasting. It seemed . . . too everlasting . . .

As school approached, I did nothing to prepare. I just wanted to sleep my days away while I could. Everyone was at daycare or work, and I was always set with a set list of chores to do. I knocked them out first thing in the morning each day. On the night before school, I packed my backpack with my necessities. I took a shower and then I hit the lights and jumped into bed, not wanting to go to school the next day.

I woke up at seven o'clock the following morning. I brushed my teeth and hair, changed into school clothes, and walked to my bus stop. A few minutes later, the bus stopped in front of me. I walked into a dull group of students. I could tell that they wanted to be here as much as I did. I slept most of the way to school. When we arrived to the middle school, I walked out and into my first class, which was Algebra I Honors. We didn't do much in that class. We reviewed the last lesson, which was fairly easy. The bell rang, dismissing first period.

I walked into the Journalism lab, with students buzzing around with cameras and typing away on digital yearbooks, getting prepared for the soon to come deadline. I grabbed a camera and roamed the halls and classes, trying to get a few good shots of goofy teachers. The bell rang as I was walking to the lab. I put down my camera, grabbed my belongings, and dashed out of the classroom.

In gym class, we did absolutely nothing. We didn't even dress out for play. The coaches let us loose to do whatever we wanted. That's what I liked about the middle school; everyone was pretty laid back. The bell rang for me to go to my fourth period class.

I walked into my Language Arts class, pen at the ready. My teacher had made it a requirement for us to write in pen. I didn't know why, but I did find it odd. Surprisingly, all we did was watch some parts of "The Diary of Anne Frank". It was rather enjoyable. The bell rings as the Gestapo ride by Anne Frank's secret annex.

I roamed down the hall to my United States History class. I really liked that class. It was very neat, especially with the teacher that I had. We watched "Into the West", which followed along what we were studying. The bell rang during a battle seen. The classed sighed as they got up. It was time to go to sixth, and final, period.

I walked into my science class. I did not like my science class. It was more like I didn't like my science teacher, rather than my science class. He always told us stories of his past, which I strongly believed that they were fake. He never taught us anything, yet gave us the most challenging assignments and tests. We didn't do anything other than watch marine biological videos. That was a pain in the butt. Longing for the bell to ring, it finally rang. There was a quite sigh of relief.

I walked out to my bus, and on my way home. The first day back wasn't so bad.
