I was searching around for a small pet to keep me company, when I came across the Russian Tortoise. They looked like an interesting pet to own, but maybe not the most exciting. Boy was I wrong! At first I wasn't too sure I wanted to adopt the tortoise who I now call Edith. I decided to play with her for a little while in the pet store. Funny story though; right when the lady handed me Edith, she pooped on me! Love at first sight, right? She was a lot perkier and playful than I had thought. I mean, tortoises seem to be boring and old at first glance. After playing with Edith for a while I had made up my mind. I adopted her right away. When we first arrived back home, she was a little shy. She warmed up to me fast, though.

I loved my tortoise so much I wanted another. For Christmas of 2012, my parents got me another in which I named Agnus. I decided they should have old lady names, since they resemble an older woman. Agnus is much more shy than my outgoing Edith. I love them so much, and I like to think that they love me too. Honestly, they are my best friends. I love them to pieces and will be devastated when they pass on. Luckily I have many years to spend with them!

Here is a picture of Edith enjoying a tasty snack! Sadly, I have no good pictures of Angus. She's just too shy.

Oh, and here's another picture of Edith as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. Just because.
