Scam Busters

Hi, it's Twigsy. I'm here to talk about a kind of scam: Why-Passes.

No, I'm not talking about Whyville, I'm talking about Whyvillians who trick us. I was stupid enough to fall for the trick, and here is what happened:

This girl (not to mention any names) offered me a 4 month Why-Pass for 95 clams. I said "O.K." and she sent me the code and everything, but the code didn't work! I tried it 3 times and it didn't work! So I decided to just leave it alone. She found me later on and said, "If you don't give me the clams, I'm going to 911 report you!"

I'm not trying to give you an idea of how to scam people, I'm giving you another idea of what to be aware of. Even if it's your best friend. If there is no title, it's probably not a Why-Pass. And if there are any other stupid mistakes, like misspellings or no -'s in between the code numbers, do not take it. But the safest you can be from this is just to say you will not buy it.

This has been Twigsy, and I hope I've helped you live a little better in our unsafe world.

Hello Whyville citizens,

I'm sure everybody in Whyville has run into a scam before, but not all of you have fallen for them. I'm sure that there are over-age people on Whyville that scam people for some kind of a living. But I am not here to talk about those people; I am here to tell you about a prom scammer.

This scammer has been sending people y-mails saying that if they send her a lot of cool things that she will give them a cheat to become prom queen. That's not true. She just wants your stuff, but she obviously doesn't know the Whyville rules. That is cheating! On Whyville you have to earn your things and earn a living, just like in real life. In real life you don't go around telling people that they should give you some of their clothes which THEY paid for, in return for a secret passage somewhere, or a way to cheat on buying a house or being elected for something, right?

I don't understand why people are so unfair on Whyville and are too lazy to play some games to raise a salary. If you're too lazy, then don't sign up for websites!

Well, I hope that I've changed the mind of someone out there. This won't be the last you hear from me!

Hi, Gymnast4 here. I'm writing to tell you about a scam I got. The scam read:

Hi, Would you like to look beautiful? If so just tell me your password and make sure you have 500 clams in your bank so I can buy cool clothes for you. The fee is 50 clams. You will look beautiful.

This is a scam to try to hack your whyname. Do not give out your password, it is a SCAM! If you get this, DO NOT send your password. DELETE IT!

This is Gymnast4 signing off...

Hey, it's hoursey. :)

Hey all. I was on Whyville when a message came up. Here is what I read:

"HELLO HOURSEY!U ONE 500 CLAMZ FOR BEING ONE OF THE NICEST CITIZENS ON WHYVILEE!PLEASE SEND US YOUR PASSWORD AND WE WILL PUT THE CLAMZ IN YOUR ACOUNT!

PLEASE GIVE USS YOUR PASSWORD AND THANK YOU. FROM WHYVILLE 'S GRANDMA.

DONT FALL FOR THIS! Sheesh... some people are so stupid! Why would some one be dumb and want to take someone's hard earned clams? I mean, they can't even spell Whyville! And since when does Grandma ever email you?

My Conclusion: HACKERS SUCK! If you ever run into one, simply go offline. I knew this was a scam because they spelt words wrong and a person from Whyville would probably spell correctly. Plus, City Hall always tells us that no one that works for her would ever ask for passwords.

From one of your Whyville citizens,
hoursey
