It wasn't long ago that I didn't know you,
We were strangers in the same room,
People who saw each other every day;
But never uttered a word.
One day my curiosity grew,
I wanted a new friendship to bloom.
So I got up the nerve to say
"Hey," even though it came out as a slur.
You introduced yourself to me,
And we started to talk like we were old friends.
Days rolled by, things kept getting better
And now we're close, talking all of the time.
You're everything I hoped you would be,
It's like I'm looking through the world with a new lens.
Together, we're like birds of a feather;
Your heart and mine, we commit the perfect crime.
So many past relationships have ended in ash,
I'm cautious around you; I don't want this to fall apart.
You are beautiful inside and out,
And your words make my heart flutter in the most amazing way.
At times like these, my heart and mind clash
My heart is foolish, and my brain is smart.
My heart wants you, that's no doubt
But my brain is trying to lead me astray.
My eyes, they drink you in;
Your adorable blonde hair,
Your sparkling brown eyes.
How can a human be so beautiful? So perfect?
You make the hair stand up on my skin,
You're so gorgeous, it's just unfair.
My mind is trying so hard to stay wise,
But my heart can't help but interject.
Butterflies infiltrate into me,
My skin tingles and I lose my thoughts,
My heart skips a beat,
And the words I speak are slurred.
With you, I feel as if I've been set free.
You've got my stomach tied in knots.
You are the epitome of sweet,
But my feelings go unheard.
My brain continues to win the battle,
But it has not yet won the war.
Someday you'll know how I truly feel,
But until then, you'll keep melting me into a puddle of goo.
