Stayin' Scamless

Sprinkle1
Times Writer

Hey everyone, it's me, Sprinkle1, and I have got some terribly terrifying news. This is going to sound wrong and rude, but people have got to know and people have got to stay alert, so here goes... *takes deep breath*... I'm just going to come right out and tell you this, OUR WHYVILLE IS FALLING APART! As much as I hate to say it, it's true. It's all because of the good deed we do called "sharing". Yes, you heard me correctly, sharing, and here's the reason it's getting so risky!

We start by donating to newbies, right, and then pretty soon these newbies become oldbies and they are still asking for help! They know that we can go to city records and see how long they've been on before we donate to them, so they do the dreaded MAKE A NEW NAME! Yes, it's something we all do, but only a few use it to take advantage of the rest of us! And here's what they do...

  1. They make their first name, raise their salary and get stuff from Grandma
  2. Then they go and make an imposter name.
  3. Then they talk to the people they know will be willing to donate, and send the stuff they get to their other names!

Let's just say it: THIS IS WRONG! We want to be nice and we want to be kind and friendly, but how are we to do it without a scam crossing our path?

This is what you just have to tell the so called newbies... and it's a little rude, so beware....

"Go to Grandma's or do it YOURSELF!"

But if you do feel bad about saying this, then donate to Grandma INSTEAD of to the newbies. They can pick up your parts there. And also in the long run they will learn the "do it yourself" process and it'll be good for them, I promise!

Editor's Note: That's some pretty good advice, Sprinkle1! In fact, Bigfoot Bill has said the same thing many a time. He insists that you help new citizens more when you teach them about the games and how to earn a salary than simply throw clams their way.

In addition to Grandma's, please encourage new citizens to visit their Ledger and the "How to Get More Out of Whyville" section in the Times. The section has a number of helpful articles for the games, face making, and other town activities.
