I took this photograph of monarch butterflies last year right as the season started getting more warm for them to migrate back up to the state I live in; Michigan. Did you know that the migration period of a monarch butterfly actually exceeds their lifespan? The female monarch lays eggs in warmer areas down south and their offspring make the trip back north when it is warm again. Interesting, huh? So next time you see a monarch, cherish that moment because you won't see that beautiful butterfly the next year.
