Mercy: Compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one's power to punish or harm: "the boy was begging for mercy".
Mercy could be counted as a quality of a person. A person who's willing to forgive someone's mistake is certainly one to be looked up to and respected. People make mistakes sometimes and second chances show you're giving them an opportunity to change as a person and not make the same mistake again.
'One isn't necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential, without courage we can't be kind, true, merciful or honest.'
Today I'm going to talk about an issue that has certainly started to get to me. Christopher Maurice Brown or best known by his stage name Chris Brown, is a 24 year old singer/rapper from Virginia. He began releasing singles since 2003. In 2009 Chris Brown received a lot of media attention after pleading guilty to assaulting his ex girlfriend Rihanna.
Although this was four years ago a lot of people and even celebrities have been holding a grudge against him and have been commenting badly about him whenever he's mentioned in the papers and have been referring to him as the 'woman beater.' Of course Chris Brown made a huge mistake and probably the biggest mistake of his life. However people forget that he's just a person. If people are holding this one mistake against him, what kind of person do you think it's going to make him? What are you doing making comments about him calling him all sorts of names? Don't become the person that you're bashing Chris Brown for being at a stage of his life.
Chris Brown has publicly apologized, and Rihanna has publicly accepted his apology. What else do you want from this young man? He has done what he has been sentenced to do. Chris Brown is still a young man trying to make his way in this world trying to be forgiven for his mistakes. I'm not saying let him beat up a woman. I'm just saying you need to forgive him for what he has done, because he has shown that he's sorry. If you say Chris Brown has an anger issue if you state that he's violent then why do you continue to call him names and try to make him upset. That's like trying to get someone off drinking but you're giving them more to drink.
All Chris Brown wants to do is dance, all he wants to do is entertain and he can't do that with the constant bullying of his peers and people that are older than him. Don't let Chris Brown be another Whitney Houston or another Michael Jackson, where they are ridiculed every day of their life and nobody wants to talk about their talent until they are dead. Don't let him be another failed talent that no one cares about until he dies because he made a mistake. If Michael and Whitney haven't taught you anything, it's to appreciate people whilst they are alive and forgive them for their mistakes. It's really getting to me that there is this talent there is this human being, who made a mistake and is constantly going through emotional times because people can't forgive him. You guys are messing with real people's lives here.
Don't get me wrong, on Whyville I talk a lot about celebrities, if their song is rubbish I'll say their song is rubbish. If their performance was rubbish I'll say their performance is rubbish but I will never from now and on comment badly on a singer's personal life, because they're real people too. It's not just Chris Brown you guys did the same thing to Whitney and Michael and Brittney Spears. It's not a game when someone wants to take their life because of what people are saying about them. You guys need to leave Chris Brown alone before it's too late, you're going to drive this man INSANE. And believe me I don't want to have to write another article saying 'R.I.P Chris Brown.'
Author's Note: Please note I didn't just write about Chris Brown because I think he's a talented artist it's because it's getting to me, how people can't forgive him for his mistake.
