It all started after we settled in to Aunt Mandy's. I was anxious to get on the slopes. Of course, Aunt Mandy had to make everything precise. Her house is big! It has about ten rooms, and bathrooms bathrooms. In one room, there was Aunt Mandy and Uncle Kenny. Then Morgan and Seth have their own room. Mom and Dad in another. Laney and I in another. Jessica and Hannie in another. Max decided to sleep in his own room. With, Jacob of course. Then, three extra bedrooms. So, when we all were situated, we came down to eat lunch. Aunt Mandy had a huge kitchen and dinning room. The window in front of the sink, which showed out into the snowy mountain. They lived right on Lost Valley property. So, we can walk right onto the mountain to ski. I ate quickly, and then went up to mine and Laney's room. I changed into my skiing outfit, which consisted of long pants, a large parka, and my snow boots. I walked downstairs, and waited for Laney and Jacob.
I hobbled out side, grabbed my skis off the roof, and walked over to the slopes. "I miss this place so much!" I cried out, turning around to wait for Laney and Jacob. I always loved the slopes. The snow, the woshing of skis on the fresh snow. I was ready. I had to go get my helmet and goggles from the lounge. Jacob and Laney came over, and Laney said, "Please be careful out there! We will be right behind you," I am going to say straight up, Laney is not a skier. She is a dancer. But she knows that I always go down to the easiest slope to warm-up. I put on my goggles, and walked out with Laney and Jacob in tow.
Feeling the wind hit my face was refreshing. I was laughing the whole way down the slope. When I pulled to a stop, I turned and waited for Laney. She came down, breathless. "Great job! But, I think I'm going to sit out this intermediate one. I need to catch my breathe!" She sat down on a bench by the lodge. Jacob turned to me and said, "I'll go with you. There is an epic jump in the middle that I want to try." I nodded and started to the ski lift.
We got to the top, and we started going down together. I went faster, so Jacob was behind me. I was doing a few tricks, skiing backwards. My skis looked perfect against the pure white snow. The bright red, orange, and yellow pattern. I could here Jacob laughing against the wind. I could feel all the wind going through my face and hair, so I couldn't help but laugh with him. I could see the jump coming up. Okay, lets do this, I thought. I sped up. That's when everything went bad.
When the jump came, I was about to get over. It was an amazing feeling! I felt my skis going down, and I landed weird. It was all a blur. I could feel everything go numb. All I could do was give a bloody scream. Everything was in slow-motion. All I could see was Jacob's face over mine. "Louran, get up! Get up, get up!" He started shaking me, but I only knew that because my vision was shaking. "I-I can't," I croaked. "I'll go get help!" he said, and then he ran. I was laying there. I couldn't move. All I could feel was the hot tears running down my face.
The sirens were loud. And bright. Jacob's face came over mine again. "Are you okay!?" Laney's face came over mine, next to Jacob's. Her face was covered in tears. "Louran. Louran . . ." she kept repeating my name. My vision blurred, like I was being lifted up onto something. I saw my mom and dad's face. I felt the tears go down again. I couldn't feel anything below my neck. What was happening!?! My vision was dotted with black, and I knew I was dead then.
