I was visiting an aquarium, snapping some pictures. The quality is not great, but this is an American Alligator. There's actually two here, facing opposite ways.
An American alligator is most common when comparing to a Chinese alligator. Chinese alligators are found in the Yangtze River, but they are endangered and only a few remain scoping in the wild. American live in south eastern areas of the United States such as Florida and Louisiana.
This alligator appears to between a baby and a adult, meaning the weight of an adult and it will be much different both in weight and size. A adult American alligator and weight and length is 360 kg, also referred to 790 lb, and 4.0m(13.1 ft). Yet it can grow over and longer. The largest ever recorded was found in Louisiana measuring in at 19.2 ft. A chinese alligator is smaller, rarely exceeding 6.9 ft.
The type of food eaten by alligators depends upon their age and size. When young, alligators eat fish insects, snails and worms. As they mature, larger prey is consumed, such as larger fish such as gar, turtles, various mammals, particularly nutria and muskrat.
I have been glad to even send this photo in, not even knowing there was much more to know about a alligator. Even the species, like a Chinese alligator. How did I not find out about that?
