Hi guys! Today I wanted to talk openly about the conflict in Syria, and the story of it just so you can be a little clearer on what's going on there. The situation over there is now worse than ever and is completely out of control.
The conflict is between forces loyal to President Bashar al Assad, and others against him. This dangerous civil war has caused the end of lives to more than 100,000 people. It has also forced over two million people to flee across the borders as refugees. The uprising protests against the President began in 2011. After security forces opened fired on demonstrations, more people took to the streets. As you can see things began to get out of control.
In late March 2011, tanks were sent to the city Deraa in Syria. After a month of bombing around 700 people were dead. The fighting then reached the capital Damascus and Aleppo, this is when the civil war began. The killings were brutal and horrible. This is one story a lot of you might not be familiar with. There was a Syrian woman who's husband was killed. One of her younger sons was kidnapped, and she found the other on the streets with his head chopped off. This is one of many horrendous incidents that happened in Syria during this civil war, so you can now imagine the terror of the mothers and children there.
Bombings became very common in Syria during 2012, killing many innocent civilians. Bashar Al Assad was not only calling a direct attack on those who protest against him, he was also making them attack innocent women and children. Many of the bombings in Syria's main cities occurred in 2012 causing the end of lives to many innocent people.
On August 2013 one of the deadliest things happened in Syria. A chemical attack killed hundreds of people in Syria, young children were gasping for breath. A young Syrian boy who survived described what the horrific attack was like, he said it was during the night when his mother woke up and gave him a wet towel to cover his mouth with. He said it was burning and they left the house, many people were dying in front of him. He was put in a car and was eventually safe but he has no clue what happened to his parents.
A lot of people blame the government for this vicious attack, in Syria both sides are blaming each other. The U.S. and France might be sending military strikes to Syria. I am personally against this and don't think the U.S. should intervene in this way. Foreign countries must take in consideration what the Syrian people believe is right for their country.
