Hey! IloveAG here. I have read articles about vegetarians and the wrongs of dissection. In MY perspective, nothing about dissection is wrong.
I asked my science teacher and she said that some of those animals are sick or hurt or practically dead if they come in a box. Now, I can't say the same thing if they come live and are killed right in front of you, like the squirrel in Merchant's article. But really, people, they're just animals. We're smarter. I am not really crazy about frogs or cows, because I have dissected both and it did count as a full grade -- I would rather make an A instead of an F just to save ONE frog or one cow's eyeball. It's nature, they ARE going to die sometime, so they might as well die for a good scientific cause.
Now for all you vegetarians out there, bad news: you're not helping anything! Farmers are not going to stop meat production. That's their way of life, making money, supporting their families. So as long as you don't eat meat there will be dead animals lying there in the meat section, and then they are just going to rot!
But it's your choice. I'd rather eat meat then see it rotting in the meat section or being thrown away; I mean, think of all those families in third world conditions, just be happy you have meat to eat!! That just shows some people can be sooo selfish!
But I DO have something against killing animals for fur and horns for ivory. That means the first president of the U.S., yes Mr. Washingtong, was an animal killer! He had ivory teeth -- he could have had wooden, but it was his choice and there are many other famous people that we look up to that kill animals for fur. Look at some of those movie stars! I think it should be banned and only faux fur used. It looks exactly like the real stuff!
Also, please tell your friends not to buy those rabbit feet! That's even worse, it's actually their feet, which makes it gross.
IloveAG, signing off... peace.
