In the "Whyville Call Box", there is a point that says: If someone is trying to act younger than they are, or if they are endangering children or if they are child predators then report them. I came across that one day and I agree with part about the child predators and endangering children (it never EXACTLY said that but something close to it).
But what I don't agree with is the part about someone acting younger than they are! Report them?? I mean, my parents are amazed at Whyville and said it looks fun! And once I was talking to someone and they said they were on their child's account and they were having fun! Why can't parents/adults have fun and educational experiences like their kids?! I didn't report that parent or adult, I just said, yes it is! I'm not an adult or a parent of a kid, but I sometimes feel that older people are trapped doing work, cleaning etc. I believe anyone has a right to do whatever they please!
Once, I went to a search engine and typed in something about Whyville. What came up is something like this: Whyville, a fun, educational online community for kids ages 9-14! I was sooo surprised! Whoever wrote that has a lot of guts to write about something they don't know about! People all have different opinions and views, and here is mine: I think that any person, young or old, should be able to do whatever they want!
So, City Hall might not agree with me, and I know, just know that the Editor will NOT publish this! But, if he (the Editor) wants to, then by all means do! I want this message spread and all the citizens may or may not want to show this to their parents, just to give the adults understanding or just to let them know, they have the right to do whatever they want!
And next time, if you do see a older person playing on a playground or doing something most people would think they were crazy for doin', don't go over to your friends and say: "Hey, look at that old person, HAHA she's a baby!" or something along those lines. Just think, I do that sometimes, why can't he or she be old or young enough to do it too?!
That's all I'm going to say. If people don't think this article is right, or if I'm right, I really couldn't care less! That's what the world is about: different opinions and views. I've had my say. And from now on, I'm going to love my mommy more! LoLz, just kidding. Well, I will, but mommy is gone too far...!
Hope you liked this article! Until next time, here's Gone142, signing off from a complicated day!
Note from City Hall:
Hi, I just wanted to clarify that indeed, like you pointed out, it's okay
for adults to enjoy Whyville as well. The only adults we are concerned
about are the ones who won't admit to being adults. They PRETEND to be
kids because they want to fool and prey on real kids.
Those are the kinds of adults we definitely don't want on Whyville, and we
urge you to report to us if you suspect them, so that we can make sure they are
not going to endanger our site and our citizens.
When you read that Whyville is for kids aged 9-14, there is some truth to
that. Although we have citizens younger than 9 and older than 14, when we
design Whyville, we design it with this age group in mind. When you create a website, write a book, or make a movie, you always have to choose a certain group to design for, otherwise, it's hard to decide what kind of art to use, what kind of language, topics, etc. to include. That doesn't mean that people outside the group can't enjoy it, just that that group is our focus, so don't expect something for adults or for little kids.
Hope that makes sense!
