In response to Shelly1's article on freedom -- there is more to the story.
The reason we do not have certain freedoms is because we are not capable of making educated choices on very important matters. Sure we can make very wise choices. However, some people can't. The ones that do illegal drugs for whatever reasons aren't responsible.
With age comes wisdom. And let's face it, who really wants to make complicated decisions that go into buying a home or whether or not to go to war? I know I wouldn't. No matter which choice you choose (to go or not to go to war) you will always have enemies. There are always two sides to a story and this is mine.
This is why we do not have certain freedoms as minors in America, Canada, etc. Only with an education and wisdom are we capable of making choices we can fully back up without childish and selfish reasons. Even people with these freedoms abuse this privilege in real life, as in internet life.
I am not saying that we are not able to make good decisions now. Remember, what you feel is a good decision may not be considered a good idea by another. This is what America is all about; different opinions, and with these different opinions comes freedom and independence. (I'm sure folks from Canada, etc feel the same way about their countries!) I believe that everyone should be happy that we are as free as we are, though we aren't totally free. We are much better off than people in Afghanistan who WERE under the power of the Taliban for so long. Who are just now learning the meaning of freedom.
This is HnyBnch with these closing words... if we support our own lives completely, we will obtain freedom.
