I was awoken by the first light of summer peering through my thin curtains covering by old, cracked bedroom window. I would normally complain about be woken up by anything. I knew this was good light. Stretching, I heard the phone ring and my dad sounding quite serious. Being me, I had to check it out.
I headed out of my room the started down the stairs. At the stair bend, I stopped, not wanting to be noticed. I heard my dad but not what the person on the phone was saying other than muffled voices.
"Yes, uhuh, I see. No,no but I'm not the only one here. Will Mokia like this? Oh...." My dad huffed. "Well," His voice screached as he continued. "I don't know about that, I'll see. I think I hear coming down the steps." He hung up.
I quickly backed up a few steps, seeing as he was heading towards the stairs, I yawned, closed my eyes as if I was tired and did a arm stretch, trying to act normal.
"So, Moki, I got this call and I have to ask you something, even though I know the answer. I want-" He said as I interuppted him.
"No, I know what you are asking. I don't want to move." I said whiney but firmly.
"How'd you know I was going to ask you that?"
"Um..." I hesitated.
"Well?"
"I saw the look in your eyes, and your sentance was a big give away?" I said, hoping he would believe me.
"I'm not good at hiding things, anyway. I just want to tell you, this may change your mind. If I say yes to the job offer, we get to move to California!"
"I'll think about it" I said, lying a little.
"Okay, breakfast is on the table, dig in," my dad said, leading the way.
