'Ello everyone! Dreamgr22 here. It's been a while!
Anyway, I finally got around to writing an article. In order to help we write more, I'm going to do a weekly article. In these articles, I will show you one quote from someone you have probably heard of. This could be a celebrity, athlete, genius, or anyone else, and then write a paragraph or two on what the quote means and why it is relevant in today's society. If you would like me to pick a quote from your favorite singer, athlete or idol, just send me a ymail or let me know on BBS! Here we go, week one.
"It has long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things."
-Leonardo da Vinci
First of all, let me confess that I thought that this was said by Leonardo Dicaprio, not Leonardo da Vinci. Just thought I should get that out.
Now that I've said that, I should say that this is probably one of my favorite quotes, because of all the truth in it. Think of Walt Disney, Steve Jobs, Martin Luther King Jr, Mozart, even Leonardo da Vinci! They did not wait for an opportunity to come around, they got up and found one, and that is why they are so great! Honestly, we as a society are lazy; we want as much as we can get with as little work as possible, but this outlook on life will almost never get you anywhere. The difference between great and average is the attitude of the person, along with their determination and work ethic.
In point, if you want to become great, you have to get out there and do something. So, go, get off of Whyville (I know it's hard, I've tried) and do something! Haha, you don't have to give up Whyville, but work hard at school. Continue to practice your sport or music piece. Talk to your parents, grandparents, religious leaders, and any other adult about how you can make yourself successful. Continue to dream, work, and, as Leonardo da Vinci said, happen to things.
