This is Band7geek and I'm here to give you something do on those dreadful rainy days!

Activity number 1: Read!

Reading brings you to a whole new world that you could never imagine being in and it's usually a lot less wet.

For the fantasy/life lesson people I suggest:

"The Witch of Portobello" by Paulo Coelho
"Brida" by Paulo Coelho
"Veronika Decides to Die" by Paulo Coelho (Ask a parent first/some mild content)

For lifelike fiction readers:

"Looking for Alaska" by John Green (Ask a parent first/some mild content)
"Please Ignore Vera Dietz" by A.S. King
"The Wild Things" by Dave Eggers

For the ones who enjoy graphic novels:

"Persepolis" (The entire series) by Marjane Satrapi

And for those Sci/Fi readers:

"Fahrenheit 451" by Ray Bradbury
And just about any Doctor Who Novel!

Activity number 2: Play some video games!

I recently did a research paper on the effects of video games on adolescents for a school project (A- btw) and it turns out videos game can idea help with brain function! Who would have actually thought?

Those who are up to date with every system I suggest:

Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U
Super Smash Bros 4 for the 3DS (Coming out this summer! and Wii U this winter)
Tomodachi Life for the 3DS
2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil for the Xbox 1 and PlayStation 4 systems
MLB 14: The Show for the PlayStation 3 and 4

Old School gamers I suggest:

Check out your local donation centers that sell used games or systems.

Super Nintendo Entertainment System:

Donkey Kong
Zelda
Any Mario game

N64:

Super Smash Bros
Mario Party
Zelda
Mario Kart

GameCube:

Mario Party
Mario Kart
Tony Hawk Pro-Skateboarder

PlayStation 1:

Crash Bandicoot - the earlier the better!

Xbox:

Tony Hawk Pro-Skateboarder
Halo (With parent permission)

Activity number 3: Make a fort!

Always ask for parents permission of course! My favorite thing when I was younger was to take a bunch of things and make a kid only fort.

Things needed:

Sheets
Blankets
Pillows
Couch cushions
Somewhere to make your fort!

Suggested items:

Snacks and a non-spillable drink
Coloring book and something to color with
A hand held game system as listed above
A book and a flash light

Activity number 4: Play a board game with family or friends!

After all, I used to think they were called "bored" games!

Suggested games:

Go Fish!
Monopoly
The game of Life
Sorry!
Scrabble
Uno
Settlers of Catan
Clue
Candy Land
Yahtzee
Ticket to Ride
(and many more from my basement of 90s game!)

Activity number 5: Give someone a call!

With smart phones these days, we hardly ever hear peoples voices unless! (With parent permission!)

Call your best friend that you haven't seen in awhile.
Call your grandparents who would love to hear your voice.
Call that girl or boy you've been crushing on!
Give your favorite aunt a call.
Leave a message on your mother or father's phone while they're at work.

Until next time, I hope everyone finds something to do to enjoy their summers to their fullest!
