Hello to everyone ! This is rosepedal and I am here to report about my times
on Whyville this past year. Hopefully it will educate others who are starting out, or will bring back old memories to those who have been on Whyville for a while.
I have been a Whyville citizen since the spring of 2000. Whyville was introduced
to me by my cousin, who, unfortunately, does not sign onto Whyville very
much anymore. At first, I logged onto Whyville as cuteness8. I was excited
to see all of the people, and I remember the days when the Playground had
only 10 people in it at a time. My salary was not very important to me at that time, because of the fact that I was growing into a new environment and making new friends. However, I've since realized that it does become important over time.
I remember the first time that I signed on Whyville, excited to meet new people. Googles was the first person I met, although I never actually talked to her... I decided to be a little daring... and warn her! I have learned now not to do that, and I encourage anyone to use that tool as a warning, not as a tool for pleasure (although I realize that it may be
difficult). I went on Whyville every day to explore, and I found that the Sportplatz was my favorite place to "hang out".
However, my days of being cuteness8 were short-lived... I was shocked when I found out that I was banished. I was confused towards why that would have happened to me... however, I found out the cause later, and I am not going to explain the reasons (sorry...). However, what I do want to clear up with everyone is: KEEP YOUR ACCOUNT SAFE. DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR PASSWORD OR ANY OTHER PERSONAL INFORMATION. I learned that the hard way.
I made a new account called rosepedal in the summer of 2001. I have seen
people, fashions, and celebrations come and go... is it just me, or did the
Sportplatz seem darker back then? Mmm... must be me. Anyway, I have made a
group of new and wonderful friends who I have become very close to over the
past few months.
I have tried all the looks on Whyville. I have been a prep, goth, grunge... you name it, I have been it. And I remember the hottest fashions in the Summer of 2001 (which were very different from what the hottest fashions are now). It is my opinion that Whyville is a time and place for experimenting and trying new things. However, I understand the need for fitting in, and believe me, it takes time to find the group of people who you fit in with.
When I look back and read the articles in the Whyville Times, I am impressed
with the admirable people we have in our community. I know a lot of people
who are helpful to those in need in the Whyville community. And although I
believe in earning your money, I understand that there is a time for giving. And, old Whyvillians... donating face parts that you may not use very much is an excellent way to help the newbies in need!
Recently, I have been trying to help out my friends in creating a new store.
I have explored the Face Factory on my own -- however, I do not think I am having
much luck. But for anyone who is interested in a challenge and a chance to
make Whyville history (hehe), check it out ! It is a fantastic way to earn
clams, although it takes a bit of time.
In conclusion, I want to thank the workers of Whyville for providing us with
such an excellent site. I would also want to thank you for reading (yes, you... the one looking bored... tehehe).
For some strange reason, I feel sad when an old Whyvillian leaves... so hopefully I will be on for a while. A special hello to all of my friends who have done so much for me.
So there you have it! A citizen of Whyville who has been present for nearly a year, as I write this. Some of you old oldbies may say "pish posh" and I congratulate you on your efforts and your time spent on Whyville. And all of you who are beginners... good luck! Whyville is an excellent place to learn, meet new people, hang out, and have a good time!
Hope to see you soon....
