As the title states, this artwork is a self portrait. I was having a really stressful week at school, and this was the very last project I had to finish for the week. I just wanted to work on something really fun and calming. Something I didn't have to think about. So this self portrait happened. I placed the figure in an awkward spot on the page, with the gaze travelling to the white side of the paper to reflect on the stress of my week. Aesthetically, the portrait is very cartoony and storybook-like, an influence which I actually drew from Whyville.
As for the mediums I used, the figure is drawn with prismacolour pencil crayon and is a very flat image. I painted the background with watercolour which made the page ripple slightly and helped to bring the figure out.
