There are a lot of people who like to draw manga, a type of Japanese drawing style recognized by the large eyes of the characters. Recently, my sister commented on my drawing, telling me that I probably trace. When I told her my drawing was original, especially in the eyes, she replied saying I probably ?draw eyes the same way every kid draws anime eyes. I believe my sister is as far off the mark as anyone I've ever heard.
For starters, I would like to say that no two drawings are alike. My friend, Jaidyn, draws eyes differently that my other friends do, like Savyon or Marshall. Yes, it is similar, but there are tiny differences I can see. This rule doesn't only apply for alternating people. It also applies for the same person. I can try to draw the same eye over and over, but without tracing, it never looks exactly the same. Every stroke with your utensil is unique. There will never be one exactly like it ever again. Even if you trace it, the strokes won?t have the same essence and feeling. The different strokes of different drawings will combine to create something that belongs to you and you alone.
Another thing to keep in mind is that everyone can develop and grow a drawing at a different pace. Nevertheless, through practice, you will develop and change your style. The way I drew eyes earlier in life has changed based on the inspiration I get from watching anime and reading manga. Those that watch anime have different preferences, and pick up different art styles. Three shows with different art styles are Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso, Kuromajo-san ga Tooru!!, and Hikaru no Go. Looking at all of these different styles, you can clearly see the difference of preference the artist chooses when designing and illustrating the characters.
In conclusion, every single drawing illustrated in the world is different, whether or not by the same artist. When somebody gets into the art of drawing Japanese-style characters, they can get better, grow, and change their style. Drawing is something everyone can do uniquely and have fun with.
