Prom Makeover Scam

Piker & Liss22
Guest Writer & Times Writer

Piker and Liss22 here with yet another tiring case of hacking -- as if there weren't enough in the Times already, right?

Although the Prom is long since over (or seems that way, at least), I still think it's important to tell you guys what was up, in case this person strikes again during another important event. Our hacker, who we will refer to as "X", had a new and intelligent scheme. It's kind of surprising that so many people were fooled by a plan thought up by a 10 year old. "X" told people that she could give them a makeover, make them all dressed up and gorgeous for Prom. It just so happens that she's pretty, so who wouldn't believe her? =oP

Anyhow, we know she took at least 5 accounts, which doesn't seem like a lot, but that's 5 people who lost all their money, face parts, and one actually had a Why-Pass. Sweet deal, eh? No, not for the people who were hacked. The moral: don't give out your pass! And if you do, you're pretty stund (newfie term meaning idiotic, stupid, you get the idea :)) seeing that there have been hundreds of warnings.

Keep this in mind, for the next big event brought to you by Whyville. Hackers are always looking for opportunities.

GoT Ta JeT...
Liss22 and Piker

Note from City Hall: Good advice, Liss22 and Piker! I want to point out, though, that your friend with the Why-Pass has a guaranteed way of getting her account back. All she would need to do is forward her whypass\@whyville.net receipt. If she doesn't have the receipt, she can ask her parent to call us and verify their credit card information so that we know she is the rightful owner of the account. We'll be able to get the account back, though we can't retrieve stolen clams or possessions for you. So, here's another good reason to buy a Why-Pass! (hint, hint...)
