Hey, it's Whypuppy here, and I've been here reading the Times lately. I've read every article on the animal cruelty issue, and now I thought I'd put in my 2 cents (I hope this
gets printed, *crosses fingers* LoL...).
I love animals and I would never do anything to hurt them if I could help it. But eating them to survive is just something I gotta do. I'm not supporting the horrible ways the cows and pigs are treated before they get slaughtered. Yeah, it's wrong, but not eating meat is not gonna make the farmers go, "Oh, well, she stopped eating meat so I guess it's time to stop making it." I'm sorry if it sounds cruel but its true. Don't ridicule me for trying to survive.
As for dissecting animals for scientific purposes -- one of the articles (I forget the writer) said something like, "Isn't it the same as dissecting dead HUMAN bodies for science?" I can see it being wrong if the animal wasn't dead and they just killed it, because that's messed up. Once again, I'm not supporting how the animals are kept before they are killed or die or whatever. We need animals for research that can save many humans AND many of our pets, too. Say that we discovered the cure for cancer through an
experiment with an animal. Then your puppy got cancer and they were able to
save him because of that animal. You love your pet, right? Would you have
the same opinion then?
Animals suffer cruelty every day, yes, that's true. But don't humans? Everyday, somewhere in the world there is someone who dies at the hands of someone else, someone gets hurt in a fight, a child is getting abused... are these not all acts of cruelty towards humans? Aren't they just as bad or maybe worse than acts of cruelty towards animals? Are humans and animals kind of on the same page as far as cruelty goes? Animals kill other animals just as humans kill other humans. Animals are kept in horrible conditions before they are killed, but what about humans living in slums and on the streets before someone kills them or hurts them? Some humans are starving and have to live in horrible conditions too!
In another article it said how a grizzly bear kills fish and other animals to survive! Are we going to get mad at the bear for trying to survive? No, but we're gonna get all "animal rights" on humans for also trying to survive. Is that fair???
Now, back to the vegetarian thing. Think for a second... you're depriving yourself of very important vitamins and minerals and protein to save animals. I really really hate myself for saying this, but... THAT'S A CROCK! Is your not eating meat going to stop your family? Friends? And everyone else from eating it? What about starving people who really need the food? People who are living in conditions that are like how the cows in a slaughterhouse are living? They'd be glad to have what you don't want! It's selfish! Think about animals, yes. Humans are animals too! We kill other humans. So killing
humans is like killing an animal... right?
But I can see a vegetarian's side of things. They probably love animals and want them to be treated right. So do I. I imagine vegetarians don't eat meat because they believe it will help stop animals from being slaughtered. I dunno if this is true. Even if it is and I do see your side of things, I don't agree with it. There are 6 billion people in this world... do you think that if one or two fifths of the country doesn't eat meat that the other
three or four fifths is gonna stop, too? So why stop eating what you need to survive if it may not make a much of a difference?
So lets recap... human bodies are used for science as well as animals. Humans are animals too. Humans kill humans, animals kill animal. Animals are kept in horrible conditions before they are slaughtered, Millions of humans are homeless living on the streets and in horrible conditions before they die. There is cruelty to humans, There is cruelty to animals. So are humans and animals sort of on the same page here? That's my opinion.
Everyone can call me stupid, call me ignorant, call me whatever you want. How 'bout you can think what you want and I can think what I want and we're even. Because no matter what the opposite side says, neither will change our opinions. I just think we should be able to voice our opinions. So I did.
And finally, I want to make it clear to every vegetarian out there... thanks for
trying to make this world better for animals. I just hope no one forgets
that animals aren't the only ones who need the world to be a better
place... humans do, too. So, um... don't hate me... LoL... PEACE!
Okie, this is Whypuppy... going once... goin' twice... gone... *click*
