I was absolutely at a loss for inspiration of something to draw, but was in one of those moods where I just really wanted to create something. It took me a while to realize that there was a subject matter that kept popping up in my life, practically begging to be drawn. A wolf.

Wolves haven't been an animal I've given much thought to, but lately it seemed like they were everywhere. My friend who was living up North had been informing me day to day of his wolf sightings while at work, wolves became popping up as characters in the book series I was reading, and wolves started to walk in my dreams.

I had avoided drawing animals practically my whole life, always refusing it as subject matter. Something about the anatomy of them threw me off and I was just too frustrated to work past that. But exhausted of all other ideas, I decided to try it.

I did this drawing using only black ink and a small paintbrush, on Archers Creme paper. The drawing is roughly 8.5 x 11 in, and took me about 4 hours to draw. I am very pleased with the end result.
