Whyville turns 200 months this month! That is an incredible achievement. I have been the Times Editor for 115 of those months. It is amazing to think about everything that has changed and grown during that time. In honor of Whyville's 200th month anniversary, I thought I'd share my favorite things about the Times. Using "Whyville" as inspiration!

Writing
Writing has always been one of my favorite things to do. It is therapeutic and inspiring. While there are thousands of things you can write about, it is very common to have writer's block. When this happens to me, I try to look around me for inspiration. My family, my work, the seasons, etc. I know that many of you feel the same about writing. The best part, it can lead to a fantastic career!

Holidays
Whyville sure knows how to celebrate a holiday. And the Times really showcases that! We almost always have a fashion article, event article, and a how to article to help you get ready for the season. Holidays are a lot of fun, and even better with Whyville. What is your favorite Whyville and Times holiday memory?

Youthfulness
When I started working for Whyville, I was 21. It's been 10 years, so I am now 31. Now in the grand scheme of life, that is not "old". But I have definitely aged in those 10 years. I've been through a lot and grown even more. I find it so exciting and refreshing to see all the young talent that writes for the Times. You remind me what it was like to be young and so excited for what the future will hold. Plus, I need the fashion tips!

Variety
The Times is a great place to find a variety of information. We have articles that run the gamut from news, poetry, art, entertainment, fashion and more. My favorite articles are the ones that come out of no where and are completely original. If it doesn't fit into a category, that's great! You have the freedom to write about anything. That's what makes the Times great.

Inspiring
I've already used this word multiple times in this article, but the Times truly is inspiring. To see the creativity and originality that all of our writers possess reminds me of why I started working for Whyville in the first place. You all inspire each other to write and to become better with your writing. You inspire each other to pursue careers as writers. That's an amazing thing to be proud of.

Lifetime Friends
Many of you have met friends through the Times that you will stay in touch with for the rest of your life. That is a very special bond. Writing unites us and reminds of us the great things in life. You can relate to each other through your writing. Cherish those friendships and stay in touch as long as you can.

Learning
I have learned a lot while working for Whyville and being a part of the Times. One of the most important lessons I learned was to be humble and to not take things personally. Our citizens have a lot of opinions on how they want the Times to be run and they are not shy about sharing! But that's okay. It's great to speak your mind and let us know how we can improve. It can be hurtful sometimes to read some of the harsh comments. But for me, I have to remember that I do everything I can to make the Times great. And some things are just not possible at this time. I know many of you appreciate the work I do and that keeps me humble and publishing the Times. I will continue to learn and grow with every issue, as I know you do too.

Endless Possibilities
The Times is really a part of Whyville that has endless possibilities. We can write about anything! If you think of it, write it down. Share it and be inspired. This is your paper. It is your outlet. While CW's are in charge of the website, remember that everything we do is to make the best experience for you. Open up your minds and hearts and embrace the Times for the amazing paper it is and can be. I am grateful for each and every one of you.
