Hello Whyvillians! Well, I haven't submitted anything since August, mostly because of school and also because I took an unintentional break from Whyville. But I'm back and this time with two paintings I am extremely proud of! I am not exactly sure what style to call these (maybe pop art?) but I was inspired many months ago to do these from sources online that I have unfortunately forgotten. They are both of Bob Dylan, who has recently grown to become a favorite musician of mine.
They were both done on 8 x 10 canvas board using acrylic paints. I don't have much to say on the process except that I used Photoshop on the original image to get a general idea of the shapes needed. These were mostly just done to help me practice painting. They weren't too difficult to do, but they really did help me take it slow when painting and staying inside the line art. Each painting took me about two hours.
I did this one on October 29th. Looking back on it, I do not really like the background at all. I also feel like the actual portrait takes up too much of the frame. I still like it a lot though and it inspired me to do more portraits like this.
I did this second portrait on December 21st. I am really happy with this portrait and I actually painted it as a Christmas present to my father. This one actually didn't take as long to paint and I think the background on this one is a lot nicer. Obviously one could see the progress I made over two months. Lately I have been drawing a lot more and my skill has really been improving!
I hope every one enjoyed this article! As always, please leave your comments on the forums. I would love to know what you guys think!
