My hands are shaking
with the weight of my own universe,
I can't help but wonder
how Atlas did this for so long.
The weight of human souls
takes a toll on one's shoulders,
all he wanted was a rest.
Atlas did you begin to detest
mortal tears that made the sky
so heavy with sorrow?
The drops that fall from my eyes
make your arms ache
and all I do is lie here
continuing to cry.
Atlas, I am sorry for the burden
you have been forced to bear,
so many years straining
to keep up the air.
The clouds we admire
only have a chance to conspire
on your weighted body.
The sky is so heavy,
but are our screams that float
into the atmosphere
making it heavier?
Atlas, I am sorry.
I know how it feels
to be the only thing between
demise and peace.
Atlas, thank you
for your sacrifice,
so that I can live my life
even if I struggle to keep it alive.
