This was a spur of the moment piece. I just wanted to use the new Prismacolor set I received, so I sketched something up quick. It began with just the girl, which I originally was going to have be just a little alternative girl sitting on the floor. But then came the idea to add the mushroom and then the whole fantasy setting. She is not meant to be a faery, just a little person sitting upon a mushroom. A little bit inspired by a book I love, "Little (Grrl) Lost" by Charles De Lint.
I used many materials on this piece. I used Prismacolor colored pencils for the girl and mushroom, and parts of the butterfly. The whole background, including the blades of grass, was done with watercolor; I love how well it came out. The faery dust I did with acrylic paint; the main color being white, but I also used silver, gold, and clear glitter.
I finished this in four days, working on it every chance I got. Some of my favorite parts are the hair and the mushroom dress. It is one of my favorite projects so far.
