The American Kestrel is a beautiful and fascinating bird of prey found in most of North America.

Since I was little I have loved animals. One day I was reading a book about them when I found about this amazing bird that can be located in your backyard, called an American Kestrel. They live all over North America. Also, they can fly up to 40 miles per hour and even hover over their prey. Another thing they do is eat insects, like mosquitoes, so that they don't bite us. They're the smallest and most common species of falcon in North America.

Lastly, the males have blue feathers on the wings and head, with hazelnut brown color on the rest of the body, while the females have hazelnut brown wings and a white, speckled chest. American Kestrels are very beautiful and amazing birds!
