PANDEMIC

Things have been rather hard during the COVID-19 pandemic. People have been affected in nearly every way. Regular everyday life has been completely changed. Face masks are the norm, and not only the norm, but if you don?t wear one, you are judged. People are expected to stay home as much as possible, and when you do go out, it should be in small groups of primarily family. High school graduations have been nearly completely canceled; sports seasons have been brought to an abrupt end. Mental health was always talked about before, but now we are truly feeling the effect of being cooped up so long. Food storage has been popularized and essential. The lives of everyone has been affected, and we wait to see if things will ever go back to the way they used to be as we adjust to this new normal.

The SPIKEY-20 virtual pandemic has been similar to COVID-19 in that it is affecting a large number of people. However, I think it has yet to be as blown up by the media as COVID-19 has been. With COVID-19, there has been a bit of hysteria. Alternatively, SPIKEY-20 hasn?t caused nearly as big a wave of paranoia, or at least not that I know of. Sanitation is still just as prominent, though I think less fought against. I feel that SPIKEY-20 hasn?t caused nearly the political debate that COVID-19 has. Nearly everywhere we can hear peoples? bustling opinions on how the pandemic should be controlled when speaking of COVID-19, but with SPIKEY-20, there has not been nearly as big a push back. Instead, it has been primarily left with the doctors who can prescribe and help patients. COVID-19, however, has been nearly entirely handed over to the media and the government to control, pushing the medical field aside.
