Summer Can Get to You

TIKE
Guest Writer

Hey Hey Hey !! This is TIKE reporting with some Summer News. Now, we all know that summer is amazing... no school, no stress, and lots of fun. However, around Whyville, I have noticed that people have become extremely bored. Summer can get to you. Therefore, I have come up with a list of helpful suggestions you can try. Perhaps they will make your summer more exciting and enjoyable.

Tip # 1. Read a book. Try to expand your vocabulary for next year. You will win in the long run from this one. Try to pick a different author each week. Or set goals for yourself. Let's say... I want to read 2 books in 1 week. Or maybe 3 books in a month. Enjoy reading, it should be fun.

Tip # 2. Be creative with fashion. Go through your entire wardrobe and pick out clothes that you haven't worn in some time. Put them together to create a pretty funky outfit. Furthermore, try wearing a bandana or put buttons on a favorite tank top or tee. While you are at it, send the clothes that you do not use anymore to a nearby shelter. They would be greatly appreciated. =)

Tip # 3. Have a slumber party. Invite some friends over to hang out, rent movies, and eat popcorn. To make it more exciting, print or create invitations to give to them. Have a theme for your party, such as "beach party" where you can decorate a room with beach balls or towels. Or how about a favorite television show or murder mystery? There are many opportunities out there, so go wild! =)

Tip # 4. Make something !! Either a craft or something to eat. Bake a cake or help your parent/guardian make dinner. Learn something new with cooking... maybe it might help you become a famous chef in the future. =P Interested in crafts? Check out a website on the Internet.

Tip # 5). Discover a new music artist. While listening to some tunes, or checking out the local music store, go check for some new artist. Sometimes, music stores will have a listening booth. This is a great way to check out the merchandise. Furthermore, some may have a "local" section. This is where you can check out music buffs from your area. While you are at it, burn or collect CD's for summer slammin' by a pool or in your room.

Tip # 6. Whyville. If you happen to be bored one day and are on Whyville, check out some of the sites that you may have not seen. Have you ever entered the Why House or created a new dance move at the Dance Studio? Explore, meet new friends, and enjoy yourself.

Tip # 7. Create your own personal journal. Once a day (perhaps before you go to bed) write down everything that happened to you. The people you were with, the places you went. This way, when you are older, you can look back and see what a wonderful time you had.

Tip # 8 Learn something!! Period. Learn a new instrument or language. Or perhaps, learn about a different culture or country. Learn a new joke, riddle, or story. Discover how to play the guitar or the drums. Make sure to keep your brain intact during those hot and humid summer months.

Tip #9. Spend some quality time with family and friends. Maybe there is someone you haven't talk to or seen in a long time. Send them an e-mail, write them a letter, or take a picture to give to them. No doubt that it would be greatly accepted and cherished.

Tip # 10. No excuses. No if's, and's or but's... make sure you set a goal this summer. Any goal. Don't allow yourself to be bored. This is your time, enjoy yourself and the weather. If it happens to storm, strip down into your bathing-suit and enjoy the fresh rain. Remember that this is YOUR time to have a good time!!!

I hope this helps some. Even think of your own idea that you want to accomplish either by yourself or with some friends. Remember there are no bad ideas... so keep enjoying yourself and have a safe and pleasant summer....

C'ya around... TIKE =D
