BabyPowdr here, but this is a serious article this time, not a funny, far
off one. I want to ask you about your opinions on war. Personally, I believe
it is terrible and uncalled for, but the fighting never stops, no matter
what politicians say. So I may ask you, why?
This is what I think. I think that deep down, nobody wants to fight, yet we
have one slight difficulty. Communication. Notice that we fight foreigners?
That usually means they do not speak our language, and we don't speak theirs.
So? What does this mean, you ask? I'll tell you. No working it out like "adults".
They can't simply convey their message by means of communication. But how
does killing their people help? How could a person kill another human? Don't
they ever wonder who they are? Do they have a wife? Kids? The truth is,
everyone is someone's loved one. They are sons, daughters, dads, mums, aunts and
uncles, and any other form of family. Someone out there cares about this
person. How can another person just stand there and kill them? I always have so
many unanswered questions.
Hmm... another little point. Why do we say, stop fighting and act like
adults? It seems to me that fighting over a cookie is childish, but let's
say it was a big big big cookie. A cookie of land. Then we WOULD be acting
like adults. They are always fighting over cookies of land.
We want our children to not be violent, yet how can this be with wars going on in the
Middle East? I know fighting is wrong, yet... do I really? I think I do, because this is what I am taught, but I could come to a realization that I really don't. I may some day think it is right. That it shows we are no cowards, we can stand up for ourselves, and dominate by doing so. War is good in certain ways, too, though. It boosts economies for the countries
supplying the tanks, bombs, and guns, etc. Builds air strips, ports and harbours. Lots of things. And I guess, for you Americans, it shows you are no cowards.
I think, though, that you are acting like cowards. I understand what happened, and
the horrific-ness of it. But wouldn't it be better to turn around and ask why they did that? What was their reason for killing so many helpless civilians? If I were President Bush, I would want a conference. I would want to find out what their problem was with the US of A. I would try and form an understanding with Afghanistan. Now, wouldn't that be better than bombing them to bits?
If this war wasn't going on, we Canadians wouldn't have lost four of our citizens back in May. I believe that it was a waste. Those people, they lost their lives. For what? Nothing. It was under friendly fire, and all an accident. It had nothing to do with the war, it was just live practice and I wish it had never happened. Shouldn't the rest of the US army troops and the air force have known that it was a practice field? I thank the U.S.'s minister of defense for his words, but words are that and nothing more. They cannot bring back our lost loved ones.
So now, I ask again. Why? Wasn't there TWO wars to end all war? Has nobody
learned a thing? I suppose those were in Europe, but still. It affected a lot of Europe and some of Africa, Russia, and even Japan. If we do not learn from our past, we are destined to repeat it. Learn, and learn it well, or it will happen again.
You know, I don't believe Hitler or Mussolini, or even Osama, are really all that bad -- they're still humans. But compared to our standards, they are awful. They have wrong ideas and wrong ways of life. There, see, aren't we just as bad as them then? Because that is what they thought of everyone that believed differently than they did!
The other day, something terrible happened. It is not war related, but violence related. A man killed his estranged wife in a parking lot just recently. This awful thing happened in a relatively small town. This was very upsetting to hear. A Whyvillian I spoke to was there only moments before this awful crime was committed. She says she was lucky she didn't come out 10 minutes earlier or she would have been even more upset. I can understand.
This is what I heard happened: this man ran down his ex-wife in his car, death intended. Well, sadly, he succeeded. To think that something that awful happened in such a nice town. I never heard of anything like that happening so near to where I live. The last close murder to here was when a man shot his wife; I think it was when I was in grade 4. That happened in the town where my nana lives, the closest town to here.
Now, what makes someone want to kill his wife? Jealousy because she left him? You know, that whole "if I can't have it, nobody can" thing. I really think this is terrible.
I am going to do a follow up article to this one, please send me your thoughts
and opinions. Thanx!
