I read Smufette's article, "Both Sides of War". She made a statement I'd like
to comment on.
"So by acting like those horrible terrorists, we too have become horrible."
I simply can't stress the fact enough... We are NOT acting like terrorists.
Terrorists are people who attack with no warning or reason.
Think about it. We have a reason for what we are doing. It's not like we
decided to just run over there and kill a bunch of people because they were
there. That's certainly what happened on September 11th though. I can't
explain terrorist hatred for the United States and its people, but it's
there. They want us dead, simply because of who we are. I'd like to think
that there was a logical solution, but I seriously don't think there was one
to be had.
I also don't think that people go into the armed forces because it's "cool".
They do it because they are proud to be here, and want to protect their family and friends. I respect them. You should too.
That's all.

Editor's Note: Do you really believe that the terrorists hate America simply for existing? No reason is enough to excuse what happened on September 11th, but how can you imagine so many people getting together to do such horrible deeds simply because they wanted to kill? What if the terrorists believed they were fighting for their children's freedom, for their god, for their country? What if they were, to use your own words, trying to "protect their family and friends"? Obviously they chose the wrong acts -- terribly, terribly wrong! But don't assume people are completely illogical, completely evil. Life is rarely that simple.
