Fashion Through the Times

'Lo everyone. We are gathered here today to... um... well, at least I am gathered here today to talk about the new and the old, the good and the bad, the wonderful, the amazing, the fantabulous... wait, where was I going with this? Oh yeah, fashion!

First of all, it all started with a guy named Akbar. It's he that owns our mall that used to be alphabetically organized and was formerly known as "Akbar's Body Parts R Us". When I first joined Whyville, the Face Factory had already opened for business, although it had not been here for long. Before that, people couldn't make face parts, only the "official Whyville Artist" could.

Great part designers from the early days of the Face Factory include the legends Etrnl *, Madeleine, YDesigner, Riven, and Charity. You just HAD to been seen with their parts or you were SO not cool! (As I regretfully remember from my first few days of Whyville. People even picked on poor little newbies like myself back then! In fact, here's a little history tidbit: I changed from the name lemonmule to the name googles BECAUSE of the teasing and taunting!)

As the days, weeks, months, passed by, the fashions slowly changed. From the ever-so-popular bandanas of Riven and the blonde hair of Charity grew more diverse parts. The Anime Line-Up nose and old style glossy lips slowly faded into the distance and new, very different fashions arrived.

Next up to be popular was the little pointy nose and (*blushes*) my blue eyes (I think...). Oh yeah, and a different type of mouth that actually looked sort of happy, for once! These, also, I am sad to say, have grown out of style mostly. It's weird, back then nobody really seemed to have different tastes. Everybody wanted to look the same, except for maybe a select few. People were not classified into preps, skaters, or goths. Most of all, people normally felt equal, considering this was pretty much pre-"oldbie-against-newbie" time.

As Whyville grew more and more, reached the 25,000 member point, the 50,000 member point, and the 100,000 member point (!!!), everyone learned to be themselves. Nowadays, people are not afraid to express their own style freely. I respect each and every individual and hope that they keep on doing this, because it makes Whyville seem more like the real world, which is amazing. JUST BE YOURSELF! =D
