New Mail Box

True to her word, we now see the changes that City Hall told us would come! Do you know what I'm talking about? Our very own walkie-talkie mailboxes have recently undergone construction! A complaint from a citizen spoke of threatening y-mails which included threats and offensive language. The new idea of 911 report in our mail, not only our chat, was generated.

At first, I thought something was wrong with my computer -- that it had gone haywire or something! I went to check my mail and was faced with a hazy purple background. Where the icons that had originally been on the right hand side of the mailbox, now they were neatly lined up at the top! Whoa, I thought, my computer screwed up and it looks COOL! LoL! =D I had one message, so I clicked to read it, expecting the screen in front of me to change, like it usually does. Instead, a separate window with the message popped up! There was an option where you could 911 report the y-mail. AHH! But where's the trash can???

It took me awhile to get the hang of it, but after you read the message, you exit the window and can select it on the main page and click a button that says "delete selected mail" if you want to clean out your box.

I think now would be a good time for a reminder: 911 reports are strictly to be used on individuals asking personal info, like last name, phone number and address. Or if somebody's asking to meet in person, outside of Whyville. Child impersonators are to be reported, but, as we've discussed, that does not mean adults in general. Adults, same as kids, are permitted use to Whyville -- it is only when they are pretending to be a kid or otherwise acting inappropriately that we should report them. When somebody is using EXTREMELY offensive language that makes you feel threatened, you can report them. Racism, sexual harassment, and so forth are also 911'able.

My question to City Hall, the Workers, or the Editor, or whomever has the answer, is: do we use a 911 report to turn in people impersonating City Hall or other scams that we have read about in the Scam Alert Section? Editor's Note: If someone is actively impersonating a City Worker, either with a name or with a y-mail, please report them. If someone's asking for your password in a y-mail, report them, too. Remember, what you're reporting has to be in the specific y-mail you're reporting, or in the person's username! Thanks.

To conclude, I think that this new mail frame is not only sweet looking, it's convenient, fun and accessible. In instances like these, we recognize just how important our opinions are. City Hall reassured us at the bottom of a complaint article in the Forum that they would create a 911 report for y-mails, same as in chat. And as we can see, it has happened! A special thanks to City Hall and the Workers who have made this possible! =D It just keeps getting better and better!

Now I know you all just love to listen to my opinions! =P! LoL... But now, here are some opinions of a few citizens in the Playground!

Liss22: What do you think of the new mail box?

Bonethugg: It's sweet, if you get threatened you can report the person!

3n3rgy: *smiles* It looks cool and making things safer on Whyville is ALWAYS a good thing. It's a good change and change can be good, and I think reporting y-mails is good.

Babybwian: It's different, but fun! I don't like how it won't let me send messages for some reason or another.... =S

Ignyama: Well, I don't like how you can't add people anymore -- you have to go to city records, but oh, well. =) It's good to some extent, but it's not as good as the old one!

Caleb: I... hate it.... =/
Caleb: It makes my brain hurt.... =/

It seems that the only complaint is that you can't seem to add people anymore... that, and it's making people's head hurt. =D Overall, the general response is great, and we'd like to express a "thank you" once again.

Liss22, going to check out her mail box again... ;)

P.S. Wait, wait! A new development! When you look people up in City Records, it no longer tells you where they live, or shows a picture of your house. What is the purpose of that? *Gets out detective coat, pencil and pad*

Is there no end to the changes? The map has also changed! There's no record of the number of people on Whyville aside from stick figures! And how many citizens does this one stick figure represent? Five, ten? This is a revolution! ;)
