Keeping the Faith is not just another PG-13 romance movie... trust me on that
one! It's not an all-out religious movie either, and it is definitely not
a chick-flick. I'm not sure exactly what type of movie it is, but it is
awesome!
The movie is about a priest and a rabbi. Sounds boring? Read on and it
will get a little bit more complicated.
Jacob Schram (played by Ben Stiller) and Brian Finn (Edward Norton) have been
best friends for-ev-er. In eighth grade, a girl moves into their neighborhood. Her name is Anna Reilly and she is a complete tomboy. She is great at sports and always, always, beats them at racing. Soon the three of them are super tight.
Unfortunately for them, Anna (played by Jenna Elfman) moves away at the
end of that year and they don't hear about her for some years.
Later in life, Jacob becomes a Rabbi and Brian a Priest.
One day, Anna sends a letter to Brian unexpectedly. It says that she
will be in New York's Upper West Side (where the movie takes place) for a
while and would like to get together and get to know each other again.
Brian tells Jacob of the news and when Anna arrives at the airport, both
of the men are waiting to pick her up. They see her and immediately notice
that she is not the tall, awkward girl they once knew, but a beautiful,
successful corporate executive.
Brian immediately falls in love with her, but he keeps it to himself.
Later Anna and Jacob hook up, but they keep it from Brian because they are
afraid that he might get hurt. Might I add that Jacob's overly strict parents
hate it when their sons date non-Jewish women? The proof of that is Jacob's
brother. He dated a Catholic girl and now his family barely recognizes him
as their son. They ignore him.
This is a hilarious story of the "who gets the girl?" kind. Will Brian
get Anna... or will Jacob get Anna? Watch this movie to find out! I highly
recommend it to people that love comedy/"romance" movies.
This is shnngstar saying, "Keep the faith, baby!"
