Saving Olivia

Hi, I'm snowstorm, and I want to share the story of my cat, Olivia!

Olivia is a three year old cat and she's pretty cute! She's all white with calico ears and tail and a big black spot on her back. Olivia likes to get into people's cars and go to sleep, which is just what she did last summer. Unfortunately, she was sleeping in someone's car when the person drove away -- with her still in the car. When they discovered her they tossed her out on the side of the road, which was about 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) from our house. She tried to make her way home, but got hit by a car.

Luckily, the girl who was driving the car loved animals and was a veterinary assistant at a Vet Hospital. She took Olivia straight to the hospital and called the vet (this was at 1:00am in the morning, too!!).

Meanwhile, we missed Olivia and didn't know where she was so we called around to the pounds and vet clinics. Finally, we found her!! She was not in great shape when we found her but she was still alive. The vet told us she might not live and asked us if we wanted to have her put to sleep. She also said to keep her alive would be very expensive. We all wanted Olivia to come back home, so we decided to make a change and we told the vet not to put her to sleep. We visited her in the vet hospital every day, and about a week later she was doing much better and came home.

Olivia is now a year older and is just and cute and playful as she ever was. So I'm glad we didn't put her to sleep. It was definitely worth all the money we had to pay and the time we spent looking after her because she is part of our family.
