Summer Science

Hey guys! With summer here and people doing a bit of traveling, I decided I would suggest some hands-on science locations throughout Canada. If you're ever close to any of them, make sure you take to visit them. I've been to them all, so I know they're pretty good!

In Prince Edward Island, there's The Confederation Museum. This SO much fun, especially if you know anything about Canadian Confederation.

When you arrive, you pay to get in and are given a set of headphones. You then go off on a tour of Canada's history. As you walk along, a person will tell you what's going on, courtesy of your headphones.

You can play a couple of trivia games, and the detail in all of it is incredible! You'll also go through a room dedicated to each of the provinces.

The most interesting things I learned about while in this museum were the names that they originally considered for Canada. (Some were pretty funny.) Oh, and when Canada was looking at buying more land for its country, what is now Alaska was up for sale and was at one point considered!

Another great place to visit for hands-on science is the Manitoba Children's Museum in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I guarantee that you'll have a blast!

There is a real train pulled up into the building, with two cars and the engineer's little room. It is so life-like, just like everything else. (There's even fruit stands on the train station!)

There is a hockey hall for trying out different hockey things, truly patriotic for us Canadians. And an entire area for construction where my mom and I built a suspension bridge using elastics! (And we're not talking small stuff here.) There is an area that explains soem stuff about water use in your house, and I remember there being a toilet, although you couldn't actually use it. Oh, and make sure you smell the natural gas. =D

Well, I'd say this article is getting long enough! I haven't even had a chance to talk about the Science Centre in Regina, Saskatchewan! Oh well, seeing as I've got to fly, that'll be for another article, along with the Museum of Natural History.

L8er guys, Giggler01
