My Summer

Mckenzie
Veteran Writer

This summer has been the best and the worst I have ever had -- let me explain. I was having the time of my life, doing the things I love to do most: horseback riding and swimming. Everyday I would ride, and have the time of my life with some of the people I love most, my friends.

We would go for hours, and talk about nothing. We would laugh at the silly antics of our horses, and cried when one of us fell off, or if a horse got hurt. It was pretty much the same thing everyone does with their friends. (Oh, and about the swimming part, just in case you're wondering, nobody drowns. LoL!) So it had been the best summer ever, up until the two worst things happened.

First, at our horse barn, there was an old, old horse named Penny, and she was one of my favorites. She was so sweet! One day, I walked into the barn and looked in Penny's stall, but there was no Penny. I looked out in the pasture -- there was no Penny there, either. I looked around the barn, and around the entire property just in case she had gotten out of her stall. But there was still no Penny! Had her owners sold her?! No, they would never sell her -- she was too old and they loved her too much. What was going on? Where was she?

Just then, her owner walked out into the barn. She saw me standing by Penny's stall, looking around. I noticed she had tears running down her face -- was Penny sick?

I said, "Mrs. Diane, where is Penny?" and she replied, "I'm sorry, dear, she died last night of old age."

I was shocked. I couldn't believe it.

And then, a few days later, to make it even worse, I found out my family and I might be moving! Away from my friends, my house, my favorite horses, away from my LIFE! I cried in my room for 30 minutes, non-stop.

I've stopped crying now; it's been about a week. But nobody can make me happy about how we might be moving. But, my mom and I found a horse we might buy, a horse for me! Wow! I already feel that if we get her, we will have a special bond that nobody can break, because she has already cheered me up, about Penny and the move and everything that is going on. I already love her! Her grandfather was my favorite stallion (he is dead now), Khemosabi.

That's it. I just wanted to tell you about my summer. I haven't been on Whyville for a long time, and I am glad to be back. Thank you for reading my article!

P.S. I will write again soon!
