Whyville: A Learning Experience

Hello, my name is banana789 and I am here to discuss Whyville. I think that we learn more on Whyville then anybody actually realizes! I mean, this website is dedicated to learning science, that is the main subject. But we learn so much more than that!!!

Because first we have to play games to earn clams, and lots of them take time and hard work to complete. For example, SmartCars Track, the Safaris and GeoDigs, and the Alien Game. So I believe that once we receive the clams from the games, we feel like we earned it. And maybe that kind of experience will change what we think in the real world. Because now we know how much better it feels when we've earned our money, rather then take it from our parents.

Rooted in what I said above, when we receive clams and finally have a good salary, we have to start spending them. Of course! But we have to learn how to spend them wisely. If you want to have a house and furniture as well as face parts, you will have to make some sort of budget. And yes, I know that that sounds a little bit odd to you, but how many times do you see people with Why-Passes who earn 80 clams a day asking other people to borrow clams? If everyone just decided what they were going to spend on what, and then searched through the malls for the best quality with the lowest price, then it would probably be amazing how much you save. And trust me, it is possible -- I noticed that at googles' store Xllent ::BargainLand:: you will find great stuff for just 15 clams or less! Anyway, budgeting is a life-long skill. You will have to use it through your whole life. And we can also use it in the outside world to, like for allowances. How much will go to spending, how much to saving, or even making categories in the spending. Like junk food, outings with friends, clothes. Anything you want.

So, I believe that Whyville teaches us more then just science. It teaches us how to handle money and how to not take money for granted! I hope that many Whyvillians will agree with me.
