It seems as if it takes a whole country to make some people satisfied on Whyville. Dedication and hard work do not seem to be enough these days, and it is quite a shame. If you ponder back into the History books, you might recall the time when citizens of Whyville had very little. Nevertheless, they contemplate about those days and explain that they were the best of all. Recently, more activities and renovations have been included into the Whyville community, all of which are cherished and appreciated -- for a while, that is.
Do you remember last fall when the Why-Pass deal was introduced with beaming smiles from City Hall and her crew? Those smiles were replaced with frowns when they realized that citizens were furious with the introduction of having to pay physical money to enjoy Whyville. Attempts were made to explain that Why-Passes was for the benefit of the community, and that they would help Whyville to include new games, challenges, and faster servers so that more people could enjoy the site at once. But some people couldn't get the words ??money' and ??not getting into Whyville' out of their heads. Suddenly they were on overdrive, composing polls and petitions to abolish the Why-Pass. Other citizens pitched in with the efforts to explain that Why-Passes assisted Whyville. However, they couldn't be heard through the screams and shrieks of those who were angry. Even today, there are petitions trying to ban the Why-Pass. I noticed today approximately 10 polls which wanted the Why-Pass gone or else let citizens be able to purchase them with clams. I am not getting into that one right now...
Remember the Whyville beach? I asked if you remembered it because hardly anyone visits it anymore. I can visualize the cobwebs forming in about a month or so. Do you remember when you were itching to get the beach? Some people spent their time creating an "I want" list, and the beach was at the top. Well, City Hall has answered your demands. What about those who purchased a Why-Pass in order to help Whyville and to enjoy the new hangout? I visited the beach today, and while the other chat rooms were brimming with people, the beach had only three individuals in it (including me).
I can think of several other attempts that Whyville has made only to be second-guessed by other people. The waiting room seemed like a distinguished idea, adding a lounge area where citizens could read the Times, purchase a Why-Pass, and learn how to play some of the games which guides you on raising your salary. What about the renovated Akbar's Face Mall? City Hall had to advertise a notice saying that they understood that people were enraged; however, they should not send any e-mails since they were trying to fix the problem. It seems unnecessary for citizens to stuff their inboxes with complaints.
It is my opinion that some should be a tad more grateful for what they are receiving. Some do not have a Why-Pass but enter Whyville frequently. Mind you that some day, with so many new arrivals to our town, people might not be able to enter Whyville without a Pass. In addition, I speculate that City Workers will do their utmost best to ensure that the situation I just stated does not arise.
Perhaps people detest change, and they believe that all of these refurbishments that Whyville has been creating will eventually alter the town they know and love. However, you must understand that you are only making it more difficult when you demand, complain, demand, and complain once again. It seems like a vicious cycle that you can only stop yourself. Enjoying and taking pride in Whyville will only bring forth positive things for you. Positive energy by chance will also make people more attracted to you, since you hold such positive ground on Whyville.
I notice how friendly and optimistic the workers of Whyville are, accepting and taking your opinions seriously. However, through those kind words, there is someone probably upset. Think about spending your whole weekend on an essay only to find out that your teacher thought it was nauseating. Wouldn't you be hurt to know that all of that work and effort went down the drain? It is the same feeling for them. They want to help and please us all, but it may take a miracle to do that nowadays.
If you actually witnessed all of the efforts that are not only brought to you by City Workers, but by your fellow Whyvillians, perhaps you would receive a different light. Be thankful that our town is still here to enjoy, and understand that you have the power and potential to change it with your positive opinions, ideas, and creativity. Take a moment just to think about all of the hard work that it takes to keep Whyville running. Think of the people, the ideas, the effort, and the time.
