When

unknown author
Whyville Poet
I look at you and just see you
But the whole world finds despise
I see how much it pains you
To live behind disguise

Cause I know you hate the world
And the world hates you back
Your emptiness fills me too
And all I find is lack

And I'm the only one who knows
Me and some other friends
Who know who you really are
And pain it surely sends

It was so hard to care for you
When you would shy away
You were wrecked and broken
And it lingers to this day

Can't you see?
I don't care what the others think
I love you for who you are
But your hope still tends to sink

How could they do this to you?
How could they hurt you so?
Why don't they care for you?
At last it starts to show

I know you smile when you're with me
But round others you seem to hide
A darkness overcomes you
And defeats your better side

The side you really are
The side before the pain
The side that seems to linger
In and out of rain

When we sit alone together
And I touch your hand
I can almost feel the sadness
And the past as rough as sand

Will you tell me what is wrong?
Will you share with me the pain?
Maybe I can take some
And guide you down the lane

'Cause I'm worried about you
About what you think and what you do
If you don't let me help you
You'll never start your life anew

So follow me where I go
And forget what's there behind you
Take my hand and don't let go
Let me love and guide you.
