Meteorite

It's me, QUISP, again, LoL.

I just read Babysugar's article on a meteorite that may possibly strike Earth...

Yeah, there are QUITE A FEW meteorites that MAY strike Earth, some of them more likely than others. We all know about the meteorite that struck the Earth 65 million years ago that forced the dinosaurs into extinction... Blah blah blah, old news, right?

It just so happens that every few hundred million years or so, another big one hits. It's kind of like the planet's way of recycling. Like how forest fires clear the underbrush and return the nutrients to the soil for new plants to grow when things become overcrowded?

There have been SEVERAL reported meteors that come close to Earth... I doubt that one will actually HIT us, though we may get a partially-severe meteor shower from bits flying off of one flying close to us. But generally, over 2,000,000 meteors enter the atmosphere daily. They just burn up before we can see them...

If one *was* going to strike earth, do you really think they'd tell us, though? I don't mean to sound like some conspiracy theorist, but with the almost 100% probability that people would totally flip out if they said, "The world is going to end," do you think they'd let us know right away? Or would wait until shortly before it was going to happen? Heheh...

Anyway, I suppose I should start doing my ACTUAL homework... But, BIG meteors do strike the Earth occasionally... =)
