Now, I have a problem with a certain article -- let's get it straight, I have a problem with the article, NOT the author, because she is entitled to her views -- and most of you have probably figured out that the article that bothers me so much is Choice v. Nature that appeared in the Whyville Times on September 19th, 2002.

The main statement that really, REALLY, REALLY bothers me is:

"It said, "I am GAY." QUISP is a 13 year old boy who's homosexual. I found this very, very disturbing, that someone actually younger than me had already made this decision. It is, in my opinion, a decision. It is not something that you "can't stop", it's not like that. I know that you can control your sexuality, and I will never EVER believe otherwise."

What's so morally wrong with people who are homosexual? Oh, I'm sorry, they aren't like you. Or are they? They can wake up in the morning and live their life as they want to live it. They can find people hot. They can date. They have families when they are old enough. They're not like you at all, are they?

If you have a problem with people who are homosexual, why don't you have a problem with Muslims? Blacks? Jews? It's the same thing. You're judging them before you know anything else about them, anything other than a basic label, something you've been told is wrong.

One of the people that I can have the greatest conversations with is TIKE, and TIKE is homosexual. Big wow. He's intelligent. He's honest. He's insightful. He's a friend. (He forgives me when I can't remember his name.) What else matters? The fact that he likes other guys? Why is that so important?

One day I was sitting in the Pool Party and a girl came in, saying, "TIKE'S GAY!!! LOOK IT UP IN HIS CITY RECORDS AND THEN SPREAD IT AROUND WHYVILLE!!!" Now, that's disturbing. How can this girl find the time to do something like this? She doesn't even know TIKE! But that lack of knowledge isn't something that'll stop her from bashing someone different then her.

I'm straight, so you can ask, "What do you know?" and I certainly won't be offended. I know people who are homosexual who are a lot stronger mentally then anyone straight that I know. What does that say? I know that I don't have a problem with people that aren't like me, because I'm not like everyone else. I understand that in order for our world to have peace we have to accept everyone.

It's pretty simple when you put it like that.
