I'm writing this article in response to smileNOW's article Choice vs. Nature and all those who have also written articles either opposing or agreeing with smileNOW.
I am not gay. I have friends who are gay, and other friends who are experimenting with it. In the past, I've met people who did not want to associate with me because I refused to quit being friends with my gay friends. They stated that being gay was wrong and one person even went as far as to claim that a gay person is an evil person. And another stated that people were gay because they were "mental".
A few articles I have read stated that being gay is wrong. A few others say it's part of life, get over it. Most people seem to say it's nature, while other say it's choice. I say it's a bit of both. Though I believe it's mostly nature.
A lot of you thought smileNOW was cruel in her article interviewing QUISP. Most of you who were offended are not gay. You were thinking on the behalf of gay people, which you do not need to do. Some of you could have been more polite in stating how wrong you thought smileNOW was. I do think she was mistaken in saying she knows it's wrong to be gay. She does not know. She believes. That sure sounds like opinion, not fact.
Now, in my opinion, smileNOW kept her interview with QUISP polite, and kept her mind open, even though she had a different opinion then he. He was apparently not seriously offended by smileNOW's article, though he did seem a bit annoyed by certain things in his article My Words, Solo.
I feel that people should keep their minds open and ready to listen to other peoples opinions. I think people, when expressing their opinion, should be polite. They may be angry that not everyone agrees with their opinions, but that is NO reason to be rude when expressing your own opinion.
I know a lot of people don't really care about what I have to say. They refuse to listen to other people's opinions. Their minds are closed shut. I do hope there are more open minds than closed ones.
I hope you all ponder what I have written in this article. If anyone has any comments, feel free to y-mail me, but please keep it polite and stay open-minded to my opinions.
This is Firecat, saying good-bye. Adios!
