Interview with TIKE

Velvet Sky
Guest Writer

The Whyville Times is great. Period. All of the articles make you think and the sections are super. But all of this got me thinking because writers have to write the stories so they make the newspaper good. I like how certain writers are involved with the paper every week. Some of my favorites are TIKE, Giggler01, and smileNOW, because their articles make people express themselves more.

One day, I was chatting along when I spotted TIKE, who is a Times Writer. I went up to him and asked if I could interview him for an article and he was nice enough to say, sure! And this is how the interview went:

Me: Hey! I enjoy your articles a lot and so do my friends. At this time, you are only a beginner at the Times but already you have people who like you. How does that make you feel?

TIKE: Why, thank you. When I first created articles, I was oblivious towards the response that I would get from others. But it has all been great! I like how people will come up to me on comment on what I have written. I feel good to know that people take the time to read and send me their comments.

Me: How many articles have you written? And when did you start writing?

TIKE: I am not sure towards the number I have written, but it exceeds the number that I have published. I probably have around fifteen articles published already, though. I believe I began in the early summer.

Me: I liked your articles on September 11. Where did you get those ideas?

TIKE: Too much news in the media was concentrating on the bad aspects of 9/11. I wanted to be different, and write an article that reflected the good in others. I tried to make it a reflection of the events that happened one year ago. My other article was about rights and concentrated on women's rights in the Middle East. It was to try and get people to think of how fortunate they are, and get a taste of the world around them. It is not all peaches and cream.

Me: Who are your best friends on Whyville and do some write for the Times?

TIKE: Well, I am good friends with Giggler01 and frequently talk to other writers such as Amanda and Liss22. I have a few close friends on Whyville and some include Leia and Loleeta. I have known them for quite some time and can talk to them about a lot of things. However, above all, I have to admit I relate the most to QUISP. You can say that my friendship or love is unconditional with him, but I would not note him as a "Whyville" friend. He is just someone I enjoy spending time with.

Me: Neat. Do you have anything to say to the Editor or the other workers or some citizens who like your work?

TIKE: To the Editor, I would thank for putting up with me. That is a difficult job in itself. For citizens, I would have to thank them too, as would any other individual when given a kind remark. I would have to tell City Hall and the other workers that they are doing an admirable job and they should be proud of themselves. To some, they may be considered heroes, so that is a big accomplishment.

Me: Do you have any advice for future writers?

TIKE: Enjoy what you are doing, and actually find satisfaction while writing. If it is something that you detest, perhaps it will reflect in your writings. I have heard and witnessed people explaining that they write for the Times for extra publicity. That is ignorant, in my opinion. Good writers enjoy what they do regardless of the outcome. I encourage everyone to read the Times, however, because it is an excellent method of learning and becoming more aware of current events.

Me: Thank ya and I hope to see more articles of you in the future. THIS INTERVIEW IS NOW OVER!

TIKE: Okay?! Thank you for taking the time to interview me, and have a nice day.

Now you have it.
