Dear Canadians (and Whyvillians),
I, Wildfire9, believe there is a problem with our education in our schools. We learn nothing about your country. Looking through some elementary school's Social Studies books I can name a few things we learned:
1. Canada is a country.
2. Canada is spelled C-A-N-A-D-A.
3. Canada is to the north of us.
I've read other articles on how you Canadians have learned things even we don't know about our own country!
We DON'T know how to spell Saskatchewan. We can't even pronounce it! But sure, we learn about all these African and European countries that are smaller than my home town. But that's OK! We can "ignore" this huge hunk of land above us!
I can't tell you who Canada's current president is. I can't tell you even if they have a president! But, they can tell us how Bush is going to war with Iraq. They can tell us just about everything about our country. But can we? NO!
Now, I ask you, wouldn't it be nice if Whyville set up a Pen Pal Service? People could Why-Mail each other from different countries! I have a Pen Pal in England and I've learned so much about English culture that I didn't know! Think about it.
