Frances Ethel Gumm came into this world on June 10,1922 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. She was the youngest of three girls, her sisters being Mary Jane and Dorothy Viginia Gumm. She was nicknamed Baby Gumm.
In 1934, Frances changed her name to Judy. The whole family changed their last name to Garland because back then, some people laughed at the last name Gumm. Frances took the name Judy mainly because she thought it had a peppy sound.
During her life, Judy was married five times, in this order: David Rose, Vincente Minnelli, Sid Luft, Mark Herron and Mickey Deans. She gave birth to her first daughter, Liza Minnelli, in 1946. Liza is now a well-known actress and concert singer. In 1952, her second daughter, Lorna Luft, was born, followed by her son, Joey Luft in 1955.
Sadly, Judy died on June 22, 1969, just twelve days after her forty-seventh birthday. Officially, she died due to an overdose of sleeping pills. But there were rumors circulating that she died from other causes, because she was very ill during the last years of her life, and she had a case of hepatitis in 1959. Judy was buried in Ferncliff Cemetery, in Hartsdale, New York, on June 27, 1969.

I myself consider Judy garland to be a super actress. I think she was awesome in The Wizard of Oz especially. I think that's what she is most recognized and liked for, her role of Dorothy Gale.
Until next time,
