Temple Grandin

Hey everyone! Krista12 here, reporting on MediaWiz's MediaHour on January 22nd, 2003. There was a HUGE turnout at the Illusions geek speak. About 20 people showed up. Mediawiz, Bigfoot Bill and even City Hall were there!

If you went, hopefully you had a lot to talk about because PETA was a great topic! PETA stands for People for the Ethical Treatment of America. Mediawiz talked about a person named Temple Grandin throughout the chat, and I thought I would do a little research about her. I am really glad I did. Temple Grandin is a good person for animals, although she's one of those great people we don't learn about or talk about in school.

Dr. Temple Grandin has a Ph. D. in animal science and is an assistant professor of animal sciences at Colorado State University. She actually had autism, an illness that makes it very difficult for the ill person to communicate and connect with reality.

Dr. Grandin developed an objective scoring system for assessing the handling of pigs and cattle at meat plants. Her scoring system is being used by many large cooperations to improve animal welfare.

So, all in all, what does Temple Grandin say about animal care? She thinks killing animals is just plain wrong. And I totally agree! I am not saying you have to become a vegetarian or anything major like that. But hey, if you are a vegetarian, good for you! (LoL) All I am saying is, hey, if you're going to kill a cow, why not use the whole entire body for something, not just a few parts.

In fact, I've interviewed LilLiz90 on what she thinks about vegetarianism, although she couldn't make it to the MediaHour.

Me: Hey LilLiz90!
LilLiz90: Hey!
Me: What are your thoughts on vegetarians?
LilLiz90: I think it's good to become a vegetarian if it means saving animals!
Me: I would become one also if it meant that. Do you think it's wrong to kill animals?
LilLiz90: This is a hard question, because I eat meat. I think it's okay to kill SOME animals if you use the whole body, not just the meat.
Me: I feel the same. I think its just plain wrong to kill animals and only use part of it. I think you should you ALL of it. Well, that's all the time I have here today. See you later, LilLiz.
LilLiz90: Bye!

Well, if you'd like to talk more about this topic you could y-mail me, Krista12, but right now, I've got to go and do my homework! *Poof*
