Okay, this is Mikay37, with A LOT to say about Whyville dating. And frankly, if anyone thinks I'm wrong, why-mail me and tell me so.
Vitual dating. Yeah it kinda sounds stupid from the start. Maybe people can't really get real dates in real life so they date on the internet. But come on. If someone says they're hot, how would YOU know?? Its as easy to lie on the internet as it is to join Whyville. Anyone could be that cartoon face claiming to be 14 and hot. So why do people keep dating?
Sometimes I think Whyville is being consumed be the whole idea. Everywhere I go, people are looking for a b/f or g/f in any way they can. They'll ask right out if you're single or not. My little sister goes on Whyville and this has happened to her MANY times. I have to watch her to make sure no one does that to her again. Young KIDS go on Whyville! No matter what age we are, we should be a little more careful before approaching a pretty cartoon face. They could be a little kid or even a lonely old lady or someone dangerous.
Fine, so you have a b/f or g/f and you're doing it the right way. Still, BE CAREFUL!! Your relationship is a GAME. Do not give away any personal info. Not even something so harmless as a first name. And I've read the other articles on this subject, and honestly, some people are letting this virtual dating consume their lives. How can you love someone you've never seen? They say nice things to you? How do you know they're not just lying to get your password or worse?
I am not going to tell you what to do. You are free to make your own choices. But listening to me and all the other people who wrote articles about dating will only help you. Trust us. We would not say this if we did not know what we were talking about. So don't date on whyville. Or if you must, BE CAREFUL!! I care about all you guys and I really don't want anything to happen to any of you!!! It's for your own good (don't I just sound like your mom now? =P)
