Hello, this is Aberdeen0 here, with her first attempt to write for the Times!
I would like first to say that I agree -- it is completely important to express yourself with your own sense of style. Everyone needs their own choice. No one needs their freedom taken away. I also think that each person is (AND NEEDS TO BE) unique and individualized to a certain extent.
I have an argument to make. I think school uniforms are important. They make you appear equal to everyone else, whether you are richer or poorer. They help to diminish manipulative people who judge you for what you look like, or what you own, not what is in your heart. I don't go to a school that requires a uniform, but from what I can see on the outside, uniforms could help lower the amount of bullying and violence due to cliques, which is developing into a big issue where I live.
I have every respect for smileNOW's opinion about uniforms, but I think that your creativity and sense of style could be developed on your own time. Sure, we live with "free will", but without some guidelines and rules -- everyone doing their own "thing" -- then where would we be?
Respectfully,
Aberdeen0
Sending this in, and hoping that my opinion will be taken seriously... with a *click*
