Well, hello Whyville. Just writing another article, even though I should be in bed (hope I don't get grounded), hoping it will get into the Times, unlike my other ones. I was just looking at the Times in the hopes there would be a new edition, and there was. In reading everything, I was trying to find a good subject to write about. Then I read a poem and suddenly thought of that subject.
The poem was written to the Times Editor, the author wanting to know why her articles were never in the Times, even though she tried really hard. Well, I can relate to that A LOT. I try really hard to write good articles that are (I guess) "appropriate" for Whyville. I think they are and I think my poems are, but then how come they are never in the Times? A lot of people submit articles for the Times, or at least I think they do.
I have sent in about 3 or 4 article and a few poems. Two poems were accepted and I haven't seen one article from me in the Times. Thinking about why hasn't Mr. Editor published some people's articles, I sort of came to a conclusion. They were not "appropriate" enough for Whyville. Hmm... that's interesting. Define "appropriate"; is it like 'no cussing'? My articles fit that standard. Or is it that we can't write something that someone else has written about? I think that covers one of my pieces. But what about the other ones? Were they not good enough? Couldn't Mr. Editor at least send us an E-mail or something stating why it didn't get in? Or do you not have enough time? I don't mean to pressure you if that's true, but I am just wondering.
I work hard on my articles. I think I have a good opinion stated in them... well, at least in two of them, hehe. There has been a lot of talk about what is "appropriate". Most of us (teens that is) think that we should be able to curse when we are mad, just like I think most of us do in real life. I don't think that should be true in Whyville, though. I think that Whyville is a sort of get away. I mean, no homework, no school. Shopping whenever we want and a lot of other cool stuff. We still have boyfriends and girlfriends, which is a responsibility.
I also read in an article about how we use the word "love" too much. Yes, that is true. In what way do you know the person? Oh, yeah... by personality. But how are you sure if you like that person enough to marry them, even virtually? I'm not saying that you don't love a person that much or that it's wrong, but how do you really know if you love that person? (Okay, off the subject here. Sorry, Mr. Editor.)
As I was saying, what is "appropriate"? Adults and kids pretty much have a different idea. We can't cuss on Whyville unless you cheat and go around Whyville rules. If you're caught, you get busted. Except, why do we try so hard? As we become smarter, so do Whyville's Workers.
Mr. Editor? Can you please tell me why all writers to the Times (or at least I think) have not had *something* published, a poem or an article. Yeah, some ideas aren't really important, but some are. Do you just delete articles that come to you that you don't think should be published? Just throwing away some good ideas and some bad? Do you pick the articles that you and city workers would like? Yeah, sometimes you have some topics that are REALLY interesting, but when I read something like that, I wonder why it is in the Times. Because it was important? But what if some other article meant something to someone and you just clicked delete?
Have I stated my opinion enough? If I said anything that insulted you, Mr. Editor, will you forgive me? Or will you just delete that part of my statement? Or will you think that this idea that I am writing about is stupid and you just trash it? Again, I'm sorry if I insult you. I'm just really into this subject and I think I'm a good writer.
This is me, weathercr, signing out and hoping that Mr. Times Editor doesn't get mad and will still publish at least one of my articles. It may not be this one, but just please one? That's all I'm asking for. I want Whyville to see my opinions and views on different things.
Again, I???m signing out and hoping the nice Mr. Times Editor doesn't get mad (big smile on face and laughing a little; trying to act nice so Mr. Times Editor will publish article). As I said I hope this gets into the pretty much all wonderful Times (not lying). Mr. Editor... hehehe, I like it! Ok I should stop before I get lost in talking about how I love the name Mr. Editor *LOL*. *Giggles*, bye. Hope you like my views!
*Signing out*
